Event Description

We’ve all heard of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its many uses, especially for treating children with anxiety. CBT is the most empirically supported treatment for treating childhood anxiety. While we know how effective CBT can be, the challenge lies in getting children who are suffering from anxiety to engage in treatment.

In this one-day workshop, a brief overview of CBT will be presented, along with innovative techniques to engage, assess, and treat children with anxiety. Interventions will address core treatment components: Psychoeducation, parenting skills, relaxation, affective expression, cognitive coping, and gradual exposure.

Liana Lowenstein, MSW, RSW is a leading expert in integrating creative, developmentally appropriate interventions so that children will engage in treatment. She will present therapeutic games, art, stories, and other engaging activities for use with children aged 6-12.
