Event Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Anxiety and depression are the most common disorders that therapists treat. The symptoms present a special challenge when they are co-morbid. Clients and patients who are caught in a mix of anxiety and depression present with different combinations of symptoms. The many underlying reasons for these symptoms as well as their reactions to their symptoms affects the direction therapists must take to begin the recovery process. Clients benefit when therapists take an approach that compensates for the intensity of symptoms of each disorder. This workshop will identify the subtypes of anxious/depressed patients and examine how to effectively engage each type in treatment.BIO: Dr. Margaret Wehrenberg, is a clinical psychologist and author of 6 acclaimed books on the treatment of anxiety and depression, including The 10 Best-Ever Anxiety Management Techniques and Anxiety + Depression: Effectively Treating the Big Two Co-Occurring Disorders.
