Event Description
The University of Calgary’s Faculty of Social Work and Alberta’s Human Services Ministry are partnering to host the International Congress for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Calgary, Aug. 28-31. This interdisciplinary congress – social work, medicine, law, government, law enforcement, psychology, psychiatry, research and education to name a few – is expected to attract approximately 1200 -1500 delegates from across the globe. It promises to be a rich and dynamic meeting with internationally-leading speakers, along with key networks for capacity building and advancement. Alberta and Canada’s expertise in the field of child protection will be highlighted through keynote addresses from Sheldon Kennedy and Cindy Blackstock, as well as a rich variety of presentations from our university and local communities. We look forward to a stimulating event where we can come together from all corners of the world to consider how best to protect children from being maltreated and maximize their well-being.
