The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre provides a community response to child abuse investigations. It is a partnership among local community agencies and organizations that brings together all professionals involved in child abuse cases. The Centre provides a safe, neutral, confidential, child-friendly environment where children, youth and their families can tell their story and be supported by a team of professionals from various disciplines. The CYAC will minimize system-induced trauma by providing a single, child-friendly setting for child and youth victims or witnesses and their families to seek services. The Centre will actively promote the delivery of child and youth maltreatment prevention programs in the community.
The Centre will promote increased understanding of child and youth maltreatment and improved interventions by supporting and being involved with research projects.
