Event Description

With the rapid growth of technology and innovative new methods for communication, it has become an increasing challenge for parents and professionals to implement preventative strategies and effective intervention methods.
In his one-day workshop, Sameer Hinduja, Ph.D., will teach the basics of cyberbullying as well as advanced techniques for prevention and intervention. Dr. Hinduja will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of what cyberbulling is, the environments in which it occurs and uncover exactly how teens are mistreating their peers via the Internet and cell phones. Dr. Hinduja will identify the future consequences of uneducated social networking as well as the scope, prevalence and consequences of sexting. He will provide guidance techniques for how youth can safeguard themselves online. Dr. Hinguja will conclude with cyberbullying response strategies. He will cover relevant legal principles, court cases, recommendations for policy, best practices in helping targets and aggressors, and informal and formal remedies to address online harassment issues that arise.
