Our guest for the evening will be Michael Kirby. He will provide an update on the important work of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and in addition, we have asked him to address the list of issues of interest to Emmanuel. Questions and discussion will follow.
Michael Kirby has made many impressive contributions to the public sector in Canada. As of April 2012, he is the inaugural Chair of Partners for Mental Health (Canada’s first national mental health social movement), following his five years as the Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Previously, he served for 22 years as a Senator, highlighted by his work on the first-ever national report on mental health, mental illness and addiction entitled “Out of the Shadows at Last”. He was honoured in 2008 by his appointment to the Order of Canada.
The evening lecture series is designed to help us learn from public figures about issues of current interest and to find ways to take action most effectively in a manner consistent with our beliefs and values.
Meet our guest for the evening between 7:00 and 7:30 over coffee and dessert, followed by his presentation and a Q and A session afterwards.
