Women of all ages are referred to the our organization by officials working in the criminal justice system including lawyers, medical professionals, social workers, social assistance workers, and by community-based organizations and agencies.

We provide assistance to women involved in the criminal justice system and those at risk of coming into conflict with the law.

We provide practical and effective support services for women incarcerated in provincial and federal institutions, and for women in Ottawa.

Anger Group for Young Women
Program/Service of : Elizabeth Fry Society
This 10-week program for young women helps them learn to identify the role of anger and its use/misuse. Clients learn to recognize different “styles” of anger and concrete strategies to effectively manage their own anger. Group members also learn more about their own personal and community resources.

Court Support and Accompaniment - Volunteer Initiatives Program (VIP)
Program/Service of : Elizabeth Fry Society
In our Courthouse office (adjacent to Courtroom #5), volunteers provide information and assistance to women and girls attending court proceedings. Our volunteer court workers also attend Court by request and accompany women who must appear for court.

Decision-Making Workshop
Program/Service of : Elizabeth Fry Society
Our new workshop breaks down the decision-making process and help youth learn how to make safer and healthier choices in times of struggle. This 10-week program has been developed to show new ways of assessing subjects like finances, safety, relationships, communication, assertiveness, time and stress management and many others! Participants will develop new coping skills as well as will learn to reflect on their current patterns of behaviour.

J.F. Norwood House is transitional housing offering supportive living for women and families. Drawing from community support and contributions, we offer women and families a chance at successful reintegration, an opportunity to work on education and employment objectives, and access services while supported by an environment that nurtures their individualities and potential.
