Event Description

Inclusive Therapists will present Dismantling Oppressive Treatment of Anxiety as part of the organization’s Decolonizing Mental Health Series, taking place online over Zoom on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 4:30 P.M. CST, and will feature Aisha R. Shabazz, LCSW and Melody Li, LMFT.

In this presentation, Inclusive Therapists will explore how outdated approaches to managing a complex phenomenon like anxiety are not helpful and also consider how these approaches tend to perpetuate systems of oppression.

Participants will be encouraged to consider how they currently respond to and treat anxiety in their various client settings and challenge themselves to consider how they are perpetuating characteristics of white supremacy myth when working in collaboration with clients who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety.
