Bipolar Disorder in Children/Youth
Scoring Key
Scoring Guide
The child's total score is determined by adding up the highest number circled on each question. Scores range from 0-60.
Scores:
Above 18 indicates probably bipolar disorder, with 97% of true positives identified and only 6% false positive (Marchand, 2005).
This scale cannot diagnose mania or hypomania. Positive scores indicate that further evaluation by a mental health professional is necessary.
The P-YMRS is provided here for educational purposes only, and should not be used as a substitute for evaluation by mental health professionals.
